Example Syntax for Using CTEOS Data
The following example syntax files demonstrate how to calculate commonly requested metrics using CTE Outcomes Survey (CTEOS) data. These examples are provided to assist researchers and institutional staff in replicating key indicators used in reports and accreditation documentation.
Each example is available in two formats:
- SPSS (.sps) – ready to run directly in SPSS
- Plain Text (.txt) – for researchers using other statistical software who want to follow the same analysis steps
ACCJC Indicators
These files provide example syntax for calculating the ACCJC-required indicators for employment outcomes, including:
- Percent of students in the labor market
- Percent employed in their field of study
2017–2023 Cohorts
- ACCJC In Labor Market and Working in Field of Study (2017–2023)

Skills Builder Identification
This file provides example syntax used to identify and categorize Skills Builders within the CTE Outcomes Survey dataset.

Accessibility Notice
The downloadable files on this page include SPSS syntax files (.sps) and plain text versions (.txt). These files contain statistical commands designed to be executed within the SPSS statistical software environment.
Because these files are structured as machine-readable syntax rather than traditional documents, they may present challenges when read directly using screen readers or other assistive technologies.
The .txt versions provide a plain text alternative that may be adapted for use with statistical software other than SPSS.
